About The Program
The Master of Theology Degree is designed to produce competent graduates who are thoroughly trained with qualitative advanced theological education so as to effectively theologize, teach and minister efficiently within the Nigerian context. The curriculum was designed to develop in the students a critical, analytical and reflective thinking for effective learning and service. The goal is to produce graduates with a love for an in-depth knowledge of the Word of God who think and act with biblical wisdom for effective ministry in the Church and its institutions. The programme is opened to candidates who have basic University or Seminary Degree such as: Bachelor Degree in Theology B.Th, Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies B.A. Rel. or Post Graduate Diploma in Theology, from recognized Theological Institutions or Universities within and outside the country, and candidates with Master of Divinity from a recognized Theological Institution or Master of Arts in Religious Studies (or its equivalent) from a recognized University. Candidate with third class will not be directly admitted unless they had registered and passed Post Graduate Diploma in Theology. In addition to the scrutiny of the admission documents, interviews and proficiency examination must be passed by all applicants before they could be given admission. The Master of Theology Degree Programme is a two contact session for course work and one session of research work making it a minimum total of three contact sessions in all. Each contact seassion runs between July to December of each year both for physical and virtual lecturers. The Master of Theology Degree is offered with seven different areas of specialization as listed below:

- M.Th. Christian Theology
- M.Th. Pastoral Care & Counseling
- M.Th. Church History and African Christianity
- M.Th. Philosophy of Religion
- M.Th. Mission Studies
The objectives of the program are:
1. To help the students to develop skills and competences in interpreting Scripture in its historical, cultural, linguistic, literary, and canonical contexts in order to understand and be faithful to its truth, and to proclaim it faithfully, fearlessly, reverently, and contextually relevant ways;
2. To develop the students in critical thinking, logical arguments, competent understanding of realities of their world and cultural context in the light of God’s word in order to address contemporary realities in a manner that is faithful to the mission of God in the world for life and community transformation (diaconia);
3. To assist the students to develop the requisite capacities for leading people and skills for managing resources toward transformation of church and society.
4. To help in preparing its graduates for admission into PhD programmes and also introduce and prepare them for advanced academic writing and research skills thereby strengthening them to become theological experts in their areas of specialization.
